WMN Space, Los Angeles
In keeping with the longstanding tradition of female-focused gatherings, WMN Space, a community-driven haven that provides support and holistic healing to women, is just as much about creating solidarity as it is about continuing age-old traditions. Conceived by doula Paula Mallis in 2017, the space is aimed at guiding women through the various stages of womenhood with a programme of workshops, gatherings and services that focus on both the collective and individual as well.
Operating out of an understated second-floor studio in Los Angeles’ Culver City, the ethereal all-white space provides spiritual counselling, massage therapies, bodywork and doula services to women and expectant mothers alike. Its signature WMN Circle offers a safe space where participants can share stories and break pre-existing patterns of behaviour together in solidarity.
While the space’s more touchy-feely aspects may not speak to everyone, the variety of beauty and healing classes on offer has a more universal appeal. From brow treatments that approach beauty from a self-care perspective to more specialised classes, such as learning the ancient art of Gua Sha and figuring out nutrition that targets gut health, there’s a great value to WMN Space’s femme-forward focus waiting to be unlocked.
